Boom 80 Moonboots

November 2000. I have had my pair of boots for about thirteen years. They were in fact brought when I had the Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000. I had about a thirty mile drive to get to work each day, and in the winter the cold just has to be experienced to be believed. If you think that sitting fishing in winter is cold, then you have never enjoyed the delights of riding a motor cycle in the depths of winter. At the time I had a smart pair of Italian leather boots to match the leather suit, but as soon as the winter came, then I had to look for something both waterproof, and very very warm. Normal wellie boots although waterproof are about the worse things to put your feet into if you are looking for warmth. Now the moon boots were not the most sensitive of things to have on your feet when trying to change gears and brake, but they did keep my feet warm. With the advance of old age?, I reluctantly had to say goodbye to the bike. All of the gear went up in the loft, and was forgotten. When I decided to get back into fishing, I went up in the loft to see what gear I had managed to keep over the years, and among the gear were the Boom 80 moon boots. The inner's had long since been worn out, but other than that they still looked to be in remarkably good condition. Last winter (1999) I wore them right through the bad spells, and I can't fault them. I purchased a pair of Skeetex inner's, and as the boots are one size too big for me, I can still get two pairs of socks on. So far my feet have not been cold at all, and the rubber material that the boots are made of is still un-cracked and supple. This may have something to do with their long storage in the loft. As they are still going strong after all these years, I see no reason to think about upgrading them. They are both waterproof and warm, and they are even comfortable to wear.
